Welcome to Elmton with Creswell Parish Council
At the Full Council held on Friday 17th January, 2024 Councillors agreed to commission an independent review of the Council’s finances and the operations of the Cresswell Heritage and Wellbeing Centre.
The National Association of Local Councils will be conducting this exercise, which will:
- Determine the causes of the Council’s financial insolvency.
- Forensically examine the Council’s accounts from an agreed point in time through to the present day.
- Assess the Council’s governance arrangements over the period, making recommendations for improvement.
- Provide advice to the Council on any forms of recourse that might be available to it to address any significant concerns raised during the Review Team’s investigation.
- Support the development and implementation of short-term and medium-term improvement programmes, focused on improving the Council’s operations, finances and governance arrangements.
- Monitor the Council’s delivery against the improvement programmes and make further recommendations to the Council as appropriate.
As part of that review a day will be set aside to listen the viewpoints of councillors, staff and Elmton with Cresswell residents to get a rounded of view of the way forward. If you wish to book a session with the review team please contact Mr. Matthew Evans: clerk@elmtonwithcreswell-pc.gov.uk
Once the review team has been finalised and a day agreed for these discussion sessions you will be asked about your availability to fit into the timetable for the day.
The Board are looking forward to hearing a range of peoples’ views particularly about what improvements could be put in place for the future. So please make an appointment if you would like to participate in this process.
